
Luís Miguel Silveira is Pro-Rector at the Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) and Key Liaison Officer of ULisboa in Unite! since 2022. He has been with IST Técnico Lisboa, since 1995 and as a full professor of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department since 2007. He obtained Licenciatura and Master’s degrees in ECE from IST in 1986 and 1989, and MSc (1990), Electrical Engineer (1992) and PhD degrees (1994) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
His research interests include various aspects of computer-aided design of integrated circuits. He has published more than 200 papers in international scientific journals and conferences. He has been the principal investigator in national and international projects as well as several industrial projects. He has received multiple best paper awards at various conferences, including the top conferences in his area. From 1998 until 2012 he was a member of the Cadence Laboratories, consulting for Cadence Design a worldwide leader in electronic system design and design automation. Since 2012 he is a Fellow of the IEEE – Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s largest technical professional organization, and is currently the President of the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA).
