European Digital Campus: Lessons Learned from Unite!
How can EU university alliances build a truly federated digital campus? On 13 October 2026, from 14:30 to 16:00 CET, the Unite! Alliance invites stakeholders to an interactive session exploring the practical realities of developing a shared digital higher education ecosystem.
From Vision to Implementation
Building on the latest Unite! report and recent developments within the alliance, this session will focus on the technical and organisational foundations of the European Digital Campus. Through short presentations and interactive discussions, Unite! digital experts will share lessons learned from implementing digital infrastructure that supports teaching and learning across institutional and national borders. The event will take place in a hybrid format, at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and online.
Key topics include:
- Mapping the digital landscape: Approaches to exchanging information about and visualising the diverse IT infrastructures of partner universities to foster transparency, alignment, and collaboration.
- Federated learning ecosystems: Experiences with enabling seamless cross-border access through Moodle and eduGAIN.
- System integration: Practical insights into the use of Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) connections for unified access to digital services.
- Infrastructure standards: Progress and current developments in the implementation of the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) across the alliance.
- Governance and decision-making: The role of the Unite! Technical Commission in coordinating and advancing the alliance's digital agenda.
A Hybrid Space for Exchange
"This hybrid event offers a unique opportunity to exchange insights on the development of IT infrastructure for teaching support, discuss interoperability, security and scalability, and help shape the future of our digital federation within Unite! and beyond."
Who Should Attend?
The session is designed for IT architects, LMS administrators, digital strategists, higher education leaders, and all professionals involved in the digital transformation of teaching and learning. Participants joining either on-site at KTH Stockholm or online will have the opportunity to engage with experts, exchange experiences, and contribute to discussions on the future of the European Digital Campus.
