New advancements in renewable energy technologies

Three Unite! research groups join forces to optimize efficiency and material durability of concentrated solar power and solar cells.

The CPS-IMT Project (Concentrated Solar Power and solar cells - Innovative Materials and Technologies - sustainable electricity and heat generation) has received funding under the Unite! Seed Fund Initiative for Research.

The project aims to advance Concentrated Solar Power and solar cells through material characterization, experimental design, and data-driven analysis. At the same time, it will train PhD students in CSP and solar cell research by applying advanced methodologies and cutting-edge research.

The CSP-IMT project will develop novel Concentrated Solar Power that are more sustainable and efficient, while also strengthening collaboration within the Unite! Alliance and with interested companies.

“This proposal can be a strong and timely initiative that combines innovative research on concentrating solar power and solar cells with structured training for PhD students. The project not only strengthens collaboration within the Unite! Alliance but also lays a solid foundation for long-term impact through the preparation of a competitive MSCA Staff Exchange proposal.”

Davide Papurello, Professor at PoliTO, Coordinator of CSP-IMT Project

By combining existing expertise in the field of CSP research focused on producing electricity and heat (PoliTO), mechanical characterization and microanalysis of composite materials (UPC) and photovoltaic characterization (WUST), CSP-IMT aims to promote innovation in sustainable energy, creating a solid foundation for future scientific advances and industrial applications.
