Online Toolkit: a practical resource for designing international collaborative teaching

Developed through experience and shared practices, the toolkit offers planning templates, case studies, and guidance for academic and administrative staff across Unite!.

This year’s Erasmus+ Staff Training Week at Aalto University brought together 25 participants from Unite! partner universities and other European alliances to explore how to strengthen transnational joint courses and student mobility. A key result of the three-day event is the online toolkit – a practical resource to support staff in designing and delivering international collaborative teaching. It was introduced during the Transnational Joint Courses workshop, one of the event’s highlights, which focused on how to co-create impactful joint modules and blended intensive programmes (BIPs).

Exploring large-scale teaching

Participants also exchanged insights on topics like large-scale teaching, short-term exchanges, and improving the student journey from home to host university. These discussions fed directly into the toolkit, making it a living resource grounded in real challenges and solutions.

The week also helped spark new collaborations. Projects like QUORUM, a joint initiative between five Unite! universities, were first envisioned in earlier matchmaking events and gained momentum thanks to in-person networking in Helsinki.

The Erasmus+ Staff Training Week demonstrated the power of peer learning and shared innovation. And thanks to the online toolkit, those insights are now available to support future collaboration across the Unite! alliance.
