Unite! E3: Experience the energy transition across borders

With the support of the Unite! Seed Fund for Student Activity, a group of students from Unite! universities is launching Unite! E3 – European Energy Excursion. This student-driven initiative aims to explore Europe's energy transition through an international one-week study trip across Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium from 7 to 13 June 2026.

The Unite! Alliance has announced the launch of Unite! E3 - European Energy Excursion, an international excursion designed to offer engineering students practical insights into the complex technical, economic, and political challenges of the current energy transition. Set to take place from 7 to 13 June 2026, the project will bring together students from four partner universities: TU Darmstadt, UPC Barcelona, Aalto University, and TU Graz.

Inspired by a successful local energy excursion previously held at TU Darmstadt, the initiative is now scaling up to a European level. The itinerary includes site visits to innovative companies and energy infrastructure projects, featuring major industry players such as Siemens Energy. Furthermore, to understand the policy frameworks driving these changes, participants will visit key political institutions, including the European Commission in Brussels.

"The European energy transition needs engineers that think beyond their university. Be one of them."

Leul Zewdie and Florian Vetter, students at TU Darmstadt and the main organisers behind the E3 project.

By exchanging perspectives and engaging in peer-to-peer learning, the initiative aims to foster international collaboration and build a strong professional network among students across borders. The project is currently in its final planning phase, boasting solid support from university professors and industry partners. To ensure a seamless experience, all travel and accommodations are fully organised. Pre- and post-event activities at each participating university, alongside social events during the trip, will guarantee a long-term impact and lasting community building.

By actively involving students and industry partners, Unite! E3 aims to establish itself as a recurring, sustainable activity within the alliance, empowering the next generation of engineers to shape Europe’s energy future.
