Unite! rocketry exchange: Build, learn and launch across Europe

Launched with support from the Unite! Student Seed Fund, this project connects student rocketry teams from Austria, Poland and Sweden to exchange hands-on expertise, strengthen international ties and explore future joint initiatives.

In a bold step to foster inter-European cooperation in the student rocketry sector, three leading student aerospace associations — ÆSIR (Sweden), ASTG (Austria), and PWr in Space (Poland) — aim to deepen connections between their teams by organising cross-country visits to each other’s workshops, offices, and regional space-related institutions.

The initiative is rooted in the shared passion of these student-led organisations for space technology, model rocketry, and engineering excellence, observing these objectives:

• To promote cultural and technical exchange between the participating teams.

• To share best practices in the design, manufacturing, and testing of rocket systems.

• To lay the groundwork for future joint projects and collaborative competition efforts.

• To strengthen the European student space network with a long-term vision.

The programme will feature site visits, workshops, and institutional tours, complemented by a strong social media outreach campaign to highlight the collaborative nature of the Unite! alliance and the impact of student-led innovation in the aerospace sector.

The common activities aim to not only boost technical competencies but also encourage long-lasting friendships and networks among future European aerospace professionals.

Meet the teams

ÆSIR (Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden)

Founded in 2016, ÆSIR is a student association with about 74 active members that provides practical experience in rocketry through a welcoming, socially engaging environment. The team has successfully launched three rockets and developed a variety of engines—including solid and hybrid propulsion systems. Their mission is to expand technical capabilities while sharing knowledge across Sweden and beyond.

ASTG – Aerospace Team Graz (TU Graz, Austria)

Founded in 2019, ASTG has grown to include around 90 students from diverse technical backgrounds. With multiple EuRoC appearances and awards under their belt, ASTG is currently working on projects like the hybrid competition rocket ISPIDA and the APEX test vehicle.

PWr in Space (Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland)

This interdisciplinary student group has been active since 2017, boasting 80 members from various faculties. Their flagship initiative, PoliWRocket, focuses on experimental sounding rockets, with 17 successful launches to date. The team regularly competes in top-tier international competitions, including the Spaceport America Cup and EuRoC.

Looking Ahead

By uniting these three dynamic teams, this Seed Fund project serves as a powerful example of how student-led collaboration can transcend borders and accelerate innovation in the European space sector.
